This Valentine’s Day, We’re Choosing Our Elders
This Valentine’s Day, Survive and Conquer is shifting the focus to our elders. We’re launching our Warmth & Worth Elder Care Bag Initiative with a goal of serving 500 elderly individuals in nursing homes—bringing warmth, comfort, and a reminder that they are seen and valued. With $15 sponsoring one care bag, we’re calling on our community to help us make this impact together.
From Trunks Full of Toys to Hearts Full of Hope: How Survive and Conquer Served 500 Kids Across Metro Atlanta This Christmas
“As we step out of another election season, many of us feel the weight of uncertainty and tension. This year, the results hit close to home, especially as a Black man in America. The impact of post-election unrest—protests, even gunfire—is palpable. And with Thanksgiving approaching, the usual warmth of the holiday season can feel bittersweet when loss and memories of loved ones surface. During these times, I find peace in sharing my feelings with a close friend who listens without judgment. If you’re struggling, know that you’re not alone. This season, let’s support each other, finding strength together in our shared resilience.”

Self-Care and Daily Maintenance – Part 1
“Self-care isn’t just a luxury; it’s a necessity, especially for those of us navigating the healing journey from past traumas. At Survive and Conquer, we believe that taking care of your mind, body, and spirit is a powerful step toward reclaiming your life. Self-care can be as simple as spending a few moments in quiet reflection, getting outside to feel the sunshine, or connecting with someone who understands. Each small action we take to nurture ourselves is a reminder that we are worth the effort. Let’s prioritize ourselves, honor our boundaries, and commit to routines that uplift us—because self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential to our survival and growth.”
The Power of Consistency – Self-Care for Mental and Physical Health - part 2
“Mental health struggles are often silent, yet they touch nearly every life. At Survive and Conquer, we’re dedicated to breaking the stigma and creating a safe space to talk openly about our challenges. We believe that every conversation, every story shared, helps chip away at the barriers surrounding mental health. It’s time to move beyond judgment and embrace empathy, offering support to one another on our journeys. Whether you’ve experienced it yourself or stood by a loved one, your voice is powerful—together, we can bring real change. Let’s be honest, let’s be kind, and let’s normalize mental health discussions.”
FINDING Gratitude Through the Holiday Season
As the holiday season approaches, it’s common to feel a mix of joy and nostalgia—but for many of us, past traumas can bring up complex emotions. Thanksgiving, a time of gathering and gratitude, can be especially challenging if memories or unresolved feelings surface. In this post, we’ll explore how trauma can impact our holiday experience and offer a simple, powerful tool to help: gratitude journaling. By taking a moment each day to write down three things we’re grateful for, we can create a grounding habit that brings clarity and emotional resilience. Join me as we discuss finding gratitude and reclaiming the holiday spirit, one entry at a time.
not my scars
In this post, I share my journey through deep depression and the struggles that once made me feel defined by my scars. With the support of close friends, faith, therapy, and journaling, I found strength to heal and move forward. Writing my emotions daily helped me release what held me back, setting a new intention for each day. My hope is to remind others that they, too, are not bound by their past and have the power to redefine their lives.
